Pharmacy
The South Texas Veterans Healthcare System (STXVHCS) pharmacies fill
approximately 6,000 prescriptions daily that are
designated as first dosage supply of a medication.
Subsequent fills or refills are sent electronically
to our Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP).
This is a large “warehouse” pharmacy that fills
thousands of prescriptions per day for VA’s in the
Southwestern U.S. Since the start of this policy,
pharmacy has been able to keep wait times for
patients with new prescriptions to around 30
minutes. This has resulted in more parking slots
open for patients with clinic visits.
Prescriptions may be refilled by the Internet, by
telephone refill system, or by mail.
Services Offered
Automated Refill Line
An automated refill line is available for all
STXVHCS patients.
Dial the refill hot-line:
1-800-209-7377
Please note: To use
the telephone refill system, you must
have a touch-tone phone not a rotary phone.
- After you have dialed the number, wait for
the automated attendant to answer.
- Enter your entire social security number,
then press the # key. Wait for an answer.
- Press 2, then wait for an answer.
- Press 1, then wait for an answer.
- Enter the prescription number, then press
the # key. Wait for an answer.
- To refill additional prescriptions, press 1
and repeat the process.
All refills should be
ordered at least two weeks prior to needing
the prescription to insure prompt processing and
delivery time.
If you are using the automated refill line, all
refills should be ordered at least ten days prior to
when the refill is due to insure prompt processing
and delivery time.
Internet Refill
Prescriptions may also be filled online using
VA's MyHealtheVet
program. You will need a user id and password to log
in. If you do not have one, you can easily get one
by creating
your personal profile.
Refills at STXVHCS Pharmacy Location
All veterans are encouraged to refill their
prescriptions by phone or Internet. Because of our
patient workload, prescriptions cannot be refilled
at the main STXVHCS pharmacy window.
Out of Refills?
If your prescription is out of refills, you
will need to contact your primary care provider for
a new prescription.
Prescriptions from a Non-VA Provider
If you have a prescription from an outside provider
and wish to have it filled at the VA, please review
our
dual-care policy.
